Episode 112: The Will of a Single Drop

Chapter 4: Seams of the Boundary

When the Truth Shelf at the heart of the Scripture Repository began to collapse, the absolute silence was instantly replaced by an unearthly violence of sound.

Sky-high bookshelves lost their structural Logic, toppling like dominoes. Tens of millions of volumes spilled out, a heavy avalanche of words raining down on the three companions.

Characters sliced the air like blades. Each impact shattered the bedrock of Logic beneath the Repository. Koyoi gripped Kuon’s hand and sprinted through the blizzard of dust and soot toward the platform.

"Don’t stop! Look back and you’re cast Outside the Record!"

"Kuon, look out! Debris!"

"Tch... the auto-deletion program is trying to rewrite our very existence into nothingness!"

Kuon widened his prosthetic eye, predicting the impact coordinates of the falling letters without delay. His voice guided them; without it, Koyoi’s slender frame would have been crushed and erased from Logic long ago.

Blue light from his eye lit their path through the crumbling ceiling. Only the ground beneath their feet maintained its physical meaning. Ahead, Asahi ran toward them, steam rising from his body. His greatsword glowed red from the friction of colliding Logic, evaporating the mist with every swing.

Asahi didn't say a word. He cleared the path with one horizontal sweep, turning the remaining Guardians into dust.

"Move it! That steel beast is already closing the shutters of Logic!"

He pointed to the Mist Train. Driven by its own survival instinct, it whistled and began to pull away from the collapsing Repository. The wheels bit into the rails, vomiting black smoke into the sky as it left the platform.

"Wait! We’re still here!"

Koyoi took a lung-bursting breath and lunged off the platform. Behind her, the gates split as the Repository was swallowed by the void. She reached for the open door with every ounce of her soul.

Asahi shoved her forward with his brute strength while Kuon used his eye to warp the distance between them and the train.

"Got it!"

Koyoi’s fingers caught the cold steel edge. Asahi and Kuon leaped onto the steps a second later. The door slammed shut, and the Scripture Repository vanished behind a curtain of opaque mist.

Silence returned to the carriage, so heavy the previous destruction felt like a dream.

It was an unbearable silence, the weight of the truth stealing their words. Koyoi lay on the floor, her heart hammering against her ribs. In her hand, she clutched the Register of Truth, pulsing with a living heat.

The book held the origins of the gods and the path they had to follow, written in words that bled.

"Did we make it? We actually stole the Record from their Inviolable Domain..."

"One hell of a tuition bill... but worth it, I guess."

Asahi tried to sheathe his sword, but the blade was warped from the heat. It screeched against the scabbard. He gave up, laying the scorched steel across his knees to clean it. He looked back at the void and snorted with satisfaction.

The train accelerated through the gaps in Logic. The rhythm of the wheels no longer sounded like a threat; to Koyoi, it was a march toward a new future.

Outside, the remains of the Repository dissolved into light like fireflies. It was so quiet and beautiful it made her chest ache.

Koyoi swore she would never forget the sacrifices behind that beauty. She touched her pouch, feeling the three gods within pulse in greeting. The Rain God’s droplets, the Moon God’s light, and the Wind God’s breath—these sacred records were now a single bond in her hand, a spark to redefine the world.

The final door to the abyss was opening. But Koyoi held the prayers of the past. With that weight, they could rewrite the book of this cruel world.

Koyoi exhaled a vow to the future. Her eyes were clear as she looked into the dark. The story had broken its cage, accelerating toward the zenith of Logic.
